In the course of this time, our Hospital has another look. We
have achieved the remodeling of all areas where patients are
treated. This is the reason I need to mention the improvements
we have accomplished and how we have achieved them:
1.
Outpatient "Miguel Angel Molina".
Remodeling, achieved with the contribution from Agropecuaria
Montelibano, its employees and customers.
2.
Labor Room.
It was remodeled by the Health Sector Reform Project, the
Foundation did further improvements in the area, waiting areas
and the nursing station.
3.
Emergency Room and Operating Room.

4.
Hallways, kitchen and dining room,

the Foundation.

Foundation.
9.
Isolation wing "Lufussa"
we now have separated rooms for men and women with private
bathrooms and air conditioning.
10.
General Electric Group
remodeled the complete electrical system, donated the central
air conditioning system for the entire building and donated
surgical medical equipment, ultrasounds, fetal monitors,
nebulizers, an autoclave, water heaters and other equipment
In order to continue providing the Hospital of San Lorenzo with
infrastructure and equipment required to serve with dignity to
the people of the Southern Zone of Honduras, the Foundation for
the Improvement of Hospital-San Lorenzo is organizing the 4th
Fund raising Marathon. These funds will go to the following
projects:
1.
System for sewage treatment.
This will achieve the elimination of the oxidation pond which is
malfunctioning, and with the treatment we will reuse wastewater
for garden use and cleaning. This will have a high impact on the
environment and health of many people who are affected by the
improper disposal of sewage.
2.
Solid waste management.
Implement a proper hospital solid waste disposal, with the
acquisition of ECODAS which is a French technology with a
patented system that crushes and steam sterilize hazardous
waste. (High impact on the environment and health of many people
who are affected by high levels of contamination from hospital
solid waste)
3.
Laundry Area.
Remodel the area infrastructure, electrical system and
acquisition of a new washing machine.
4.
Autoclave and water treatment system using reverse osmosis.
The hospital currently has only one autoclave which is
insufficient for the demand, the purpose of this project will
improve surgery numbers. The autoclaves are being damaged by the
hardness and salinity of drinking water in the Southern Region
of Honduras, so it is necessary to treat the water used by
autoclaves.
5. Mother’s Shelter. Remodeling of the shelter for new
moms staying at the hospital.
6. Install outdoor lighting. There is currently no
exterior lighting in the building.
7. Construction of concrete shelves at the Lab to improve
the functioning of the equipment.
8. Purchase of Ambulance because the current is in
really bad shape.
9. Perimeter wall and serpentine to give greater
security to the building remodeled.
10. Availability of funds to ensure the continuous
maintenance of remodeled areas and donated equipment.
All Hondurans should move on from success to significance. Once
we are successful we need to move to significance and
significance is to make a difference in the life of another
person. Today we are very happy that we are making a difference
in the lives of 260,000 very poor people who visit the hospital
every year and we will be even happier when other foundations
start working in other hospitals in Honduras.
Our Foundation has a high commitment and passion to see the
hospital transformed in its entirety and to be able to offer the
most needy better conditions and better health services.
It is for all of these reasons that we are knocking the doors of
your hearts and ask that you become passionate like us. We are
grateful that you become part of this team and that we enjoy the
changes together.
The date for this crusade of love will be July 23, 2010; with the
goal to collect
$265,000.
We invite you to visit our website www.fundahsl.org where you
can see a before/after slideshow presentation of all the
improvements in the infrastructure. You
may also obtain more information about the projects we need to
accomplish.
Through this letter we extend a warm invitation to visit us our
beloved Hospital and see all that we are doing to make it
better.
Attached you will find the account information where you can
make contributions by transferring funds.
Please send an email with your donation fund transfer
